About Me

Hi, my name is Ahmed, born and raised in Brooklyn. Both of my parents migrated here from Sudan and growing up between cultures shaped the way I see the world. It taught me to pay attention — to language, to identity, to the small differences in how people communicate and express themselves. That awareness is a big part of why I value my writing and why I put so much intention my pen when I do write.

Outside of school, I’m a pretty mixed bag. I do basically everything I get the chance to do because life is so precious; so I like many things whether it’s trying a new workout, picking up a random creative project, or getting dragged into something I definitely didn’t plan for. Something I absolutely do not like are olives (Yes it’s true). You couldn’t pay me to eat one (This isn’t true).

Regardless of how many mixed things are in this mixed bag the thing that ties them together is my desire to grow, learn, and understand the world around me. I take pride in showing up with curiosity– whether it’s in a classroom, a personal project, or some unexpected moment that I was dragged into and definitely didn’t plan for. And hopefully my portfolio represents that growth and the voice I continue to shape to this very second somewhere in the world.
